After successfully producing more than 11,800 alumni through an innovative and technological campus, Kolej Hafiz, an Institution of Higher Education specializing in Tahfiz Al Quran, is not stopping after its success in its efforts to produce more Islamic professionals who are also Hafiz of the Quran.
Kolej Hafiz is a skilled human capital development center for Huffaz, operating since March 1983.
According to Kolej Hafiz President Puan Hajjah Asemah Binti Haji Mohd Din, after 41 years since its establishment, Kolej Hafiz has finally received recognition from The Malaysia Book of Records as ‘the First Private Integrated Tahfiz Institute’ on October 21, 2023.
“Alhamdulillah… so far, 1,000 Huffaz graduates and another 800 professional graduates have been produced through Kolej Hafiz. We are optimistic that Kolej Hafiz will be able to produce more Huffaz by 2050, in line with the National Tahfiz Education Policy (DPTN) launched by the government since 2018,” she emphasized.
The education system at Kolej Hafiz practices the al-takhalli system, emphasizing the formation of personal character and morals among its students. This commitment is underscored by recognition from the Department of Higher Education, which awarded Kolej Hafiz a ‘highly competitive’ rating of 6 stars in the Malaysian Quality Evaluation System MyQuest 2018/2019.
“Only 12 colleges among private higher education institutions (IPTS) received this rating, including Kolej Hafiz out of 500 IPTS in Malaysia,” said PU Hafiz Haneefa, the Chief Executive Officer of Kolej Hafiz, who also received the National Excellent Teacher Award (Private Sector) at the 53rd National Education Awards 2024 by the Ministry of Education Malaysia (KPM).
“We provide conducive facilities for students, including classrooms equipped with smart boards, computer labs, science labs, life skills labs, and a fully equipped gymnasium and recreational area. To ensure safety, we have installed 70 CCTV cameras throughout the Kolej Hafiz campus,” he added.
Kolej Hafiz now offers a Diploma in Tahfiz Al-Quran & Al-Qiraat for SPM graduates who can read the Quran even without prior Arabic language skills, with at least 3 credits in SPM. This diploma is accredited by JPA and MQA (MQA/FA2143), spanning 3 years of study that qualifies students for further studies domestically or internationally, including scholarship opportunities for eligible candidates.
This opens pathways for students to pursue studies in 5 faculties: Shariah, Islamic Studies and Philosophy, Hadith, Arabic Language, and Quranic Recitation at the Islamic University of Madinah with sponsorship from Madinah, as well as at Al-Azhar University, Egypt.
Moreover, students also have opportunities to pursue studies in the science and business streams.
