YouTube now makes it easier for creators to implement new artificial intelligence-based tools to make video creation easier to reach for a wider audience, which was announced by a Google subsidiary via livestream on Thursday. This will not only help the already established creators but also the new creators, which could encourage them to create, edit and share contents in a creative way.
The feature that will be introduced later this year is called Dream Screen, a generative AI feature to help creators produce AI-generated features that could add text, backgrounds, music, image and other elements to their YouTube Shorts with only a few prompts. This feature is expected to be available by early next year for the short-form video, YouTube Shorts, which now has an average of over 70 billion views daily, up from 50 billion in January.
A new mobile app, YouTube Create, will be launched to allow creators to edit Shorts, longer videos or both. The tool will address the pain points faced by video creators, such as the video editing process and the ability to include creative elements like stickers, GIFs and effects. The YouTube Create app will be readily available first for Android users, starting last Thursday, September 21, 2023, across eight markets worldwide, which are the U.S., Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, India, Korea, and Singapore.
YouTube Create will also have features that will synchronize the beat of the song with the video clips—a feature that is popularly used in TikTok, which can enhance the video creation output. Also, it will have its own library, which consists of royalty-free music tracks, so that creators are safe from copyright issues and can create videos without any concerns. Another AI-powered dubbing tool, Aloud, is also announced to improve audience reach in a variety of languages. More features will be available for creators in the future since the company said the app will continue to expand over time.
“At YouTube, we want to make it easier for everyone to feel like they can create and we believe generative AI will make that possible,” said Mohan, CEO of YouTube, to the reporters during the company’s annual Made On YouTube product event.
