Since 2015, the Shell LiveWIRE Malaysia program has been in existence to support entrepreneurs, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs), in Malaysia. The Shell LiveWIRE program happens every year in different countries, like the UK, Nigeria, and Malaysia. It helps young individuals who want to start their own businesses.
Now, it is back, offering a fantastic opportunity for entrepreneurs from Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia to accelerate their business growth and achieve success.
“The programme takes entrepreneurs through a series of workshops that will assist them in generating or enhancing their business ideas, testing their business models and preparing them to be successful business owners.”
The Shell LiveWIRE program says that at the end of the program, participants will take part in a pitching workshop and competition. This workshop and competition are designed to teach entrepreneurs the skills they need to grow their businesses.
“Shell is seeking out entrepreneurs whose ideas will power lives in environmental sustainability, social impact and business innovation.”
The Shell LiveWIRE program in Malaysia will happen in Kuching, Kota Kinabalu, and the Klang Valley. In each of these places, five winners will get RM10,000 as seed grants to help start or grow their businesses. Then, these five winners from each place will compete at the national level. At the national level, five winners will have a chance to win an extra RM30,000.
The Shell LiveWIRE program, in partnership with Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS), offers special benefits for entrepreneurs in Sarawak. Participants not only receive access to the TEGAS Digital Village in Kuching and the TEGAS Digital Innovation Hub in Bintulu and Miri for one year, but they also get an extra RM5,000 on top of the grant they receive from the Sarawak Shell LiveWIRE program.

How does it work?
The program offers a comprehensive support system, including workshops, mentorship, funding opportunities, and access to a global network of like-minded entrepreneurs. It aims to empower individuals to turn their innovative ideas into successful and sustainable businesses.
For the winners, there will be more extra opportunities. “Alongside the grant, the winners will also be provided with mentorship and guidance to kickstart their businesses from the Shell LiveWIRE Malaysia facilitators for the next three years and stand a chance to be absorbed into Shell’s supply chain and a chance to go into partnership with Shell retailers,” Shell mentioned about it in its press release.
